Schutz und Schmuck - Schwäbische Ofenwandplättle

The “Schwäbischen Ofenwandplättle” (Swabian stove tiles) are not only protective, but also decorative, on most of the substantial farmers’ houses. Those mottoes and patterns on the tiles are today a special testimony to the way of life of the old days. The well-preserved kitchen walls in the Bäuerlichen Museum demonstrate the uniqueness, creativity, and diversity of these precious tiles. In addition to the exhibition and guided tour, visitors can also experience a creative activity in which they can either follow templates or use their own imagination to draw tiles. At the end, you can take home the tiles you have drawn! The programme is mainly aimed at children and teenagers.

The event “Schutz und Schmuck - Schwäbische Ofenwandplättle” is organized on the occasion of the Ornamenta 2024 Lust Programme, corresponding to the theme Bad Databrunn. All Ornamenta Lust programmes are mainly German spoken but you are welcome to join.
