Getting Around

  • Tourist information centers

To make your way through the Northern Black Forest area and get more in depth tips you are welcome to visit the Tourist Information centers in Nagold, Bad-Wildbad, Enzkreis and Pforzheim, as well as the websites of regional Black Forest Tourism and the Tourism Marketing of Baden-Württemberg.

  • Local transport

Most of the Ornamenta programme can be reached using public transport. Subscribe for full local public transport access with a 49 euro 'Deutschland ticket' via Deutsche Bahn.

Driving in the Northern Black Forest enables you to reach Ornamenta programme locations quicker. Rent a car via Europecar or Sixt in Pforzheim, Karlsruhe or Stuttgart. You can also subscribe and use the online Deer electric cars phone application. Or book and travel small distances with a local e-scooter.

Please bring cash money for swift car parking, and be patient with local agricultural vehicles.

  • Accessibility

For our international visitors arriving by ICE train in Karlsruhe, Baden-Baden or at the airport of Stuttgart we recommend reservering Taxi Wolf Pforzheim to move around effectively.

Most of the Ornamenta programme can be visited by visitors of average health, some locations are reachable for physically challenged visitors and an indiation for wheelchair access is written on the individual programme pages.

Tips

  • Cash

For swift payment at local establishments on the way, it is recommended to take out and carry about fifty euros of cash money per day during your visit and travels through the Northern Black Forest. The Ornamenta programme takes you along many informal points of interests, restaurants and cafes where cash payment is the only means of payment.

  • Conditions

Spread over the Northern Black Forest area, the Ornamenta programme takes you along its fresh and cool valleys but also its sunny hills and warm city centers so make sure to seek cover from the sun or use a product to protect yourself from the hot temperatures in this part of Southern Germany.

To experience the most of the Ornamenta programme during a weekend visit, you need to prepare your travel and stay in advance and also keep a high pace going by bringing water, wearing sneakers or outdoor shoes and prepare for uneven terrains or unexpected corners to find the exhibitions, events and public art works.
