The artist Birgit Maria Wolf is originally from Calw and now lives in Berlin. She has created a series of 102 paintings especially for this exhibition, inspired by the different moods of the convent ruins. She offers us a “retrospective walk”. Her metaphorical artistic exploration of the St. Peter and Paul monastery complex, Wolf's “homeland” is the external link between the historical site and the works in the exhibition, while her decorations, column capitals and bas-reliefs impressively show that what was once damaged and destroyed cannot be immediately restored. Combined with the permanent collection of the Abbey Museum, the exhibition presents a special harmony.
The exhibition “REMINISZENZ” is organized on the occasion of the Ornamenta 2024 Lust Programme, corresponding to the theme Solartal. All Ornamenta Lust programmes are mainly German spoken but you are welcome to join.
