On the theme Schmutzige Ecke, the lecture “Pforzheim Trams: Nostalgia with no Future?” by Kurt Schwab will confront the controversial topic of the trams in Pforzheim. Schwab will elaborate on the economic climate as well as on local infrastructural debates in the 1960s when the city administration decided to convert all trams into bus transport. Looking into the future, we will discuss whether trams should be reintroduced in Pforzheim responding to the need to lower emissions in urban areas.
