Matters of the heart
With every heartbeat, life pulsates within us: we grab a heart, close it up, pour it out, put it over our heads, let it slip down our pants, give it a jolt, turn it into a murder pit. A service with sermon slams on these and other matters of the heart.
With Pastor Julia Kaiser, Pastor Malte Dahme and Prof. Stefan Göttelmann (Heidelberg University of Church Music) on the organ.
The service will be followed by a presentation of Basse Stittgen's work "Blood related" and a discussion with him and the artist Zeno Franchini.

Ma(hl)anders
"Christ's blood...shed for me?" Together with the renowned playing artist Robby Höschele, we are transforming the Matthäuskirche Pforzheim into an experimental space. A service for everyone who wants to experience a creative approach to communion.
With Pastor Julia Kaiser, playing artist Robby Höschele and the saxophone and clarinet ensemble under the direction of Kerstin Bischoff.

Uncovering historys and layers
From the outside like a factory building, from the inside it shines bright and warm and you seem to float - this is how the Matthäuskirche Pforzheim presents itself as both sacred and profane. It is worth taking a closer look and uncovering the different layers. Present and past overlap. The scars are visible and still hurt - including those of the city. In the service we uncover layers...
With Dean Christiane Quincke, Pastor Stephen Lakkis, Lars Quincke (piano) and Lisa Biggel (vocals)
The service will be followed by a presentation of works and a discussion with Juliane Greb from the curatorial team of "Open for Maintenance / Wegen Umbau geöffnet" (Architecture Biennale in Venice 2023).

And suddenly everything is back
A scent, a melody, an object... - and suddenly a whole world opens up. A love story perhaps - long gone and yet still alive. A distressing event - long suppressed and yet not forgotten. A service that traces these bittersweet memories and places them in the light of God.
with Pastor Esther Philipps, Pastor Martina Walter, Thomas Schmidt (piano) and Julia Eckhardt (flute)
Sunday, 8 September 2024, 10:00 a.m.
Longing
"We see an image now as in a mirror, but one day directly, within our grasp." Thoughts are often full of longing: memories of good times. Hope for fulfilled dreams. Striving for happiness. The need for security. Longing for a secure faith. In the service, we will explore these questions and consider the answers.
With Pastor Hans Gölz-Eisinger, Cantor Karen Kirschenbauer (piano) and Katrin Bürck (vocals)
The service will be followed by the performance "Leche vitrines" ("window licking", French for "window shopping") by performance artist Martina Morger and a subsequent discussion with the artist.
Sunday, 22 September 2024, 10.00 a.m.
Believed - or can you still recycle something?
What we can no longer believe and what still sustains us: A service in which we listen to words, stories and songs that no longer fit - and look for what they can still give us.
with Pastor Julia Kaiser, Pastor Malte Dahme, Cantor Karen Kirschenbauer (organ) and the trombone choir at the Christuskirche under the direction of Axel Pfrommer
