The "Glasperlenspiele Calw" song festival, in cooperation with the town of Calw, offers a forum for the rare genre of lieder singing. Both well-known and popular works will be performed, as well as rarely or never-heard settings of Hesse texts, most of which are still lying dormant. The festival comprises three concerts, all of which will be performed by different song duos. The Sunday matinée traditionally features performances by former Calw residents - artists who have their musical roots in the city of Hesse. For the first time this year, there will also be a music journalism workshop to accompany the festival - an opportunity for young people to take a look at the festival from the perspective of a music journalist. The following artists will be performing in 2024: Norwegian soprano Siri Karoline Thornhill, pianist Christine Rahn, bass-baritone Thilo Dahlmann, pianist Götz Payer, alto Seda Amir-Karayan and pianist Thomas Seyboldt.
The event “Glasperlenspiele Calw - Festival für Liedkunst” is organized on the occasion of the Ornamenta 2024 Lust Programme, corresponding to the theme Inhalatorium. All Ornamenta Lust programmes are mainly German spoken but you are welcome to join.
This year, the festival will be accompanied by a music journalism workshop program for students. The kick-off workshop for the Glasperlenspiele reporters is on Thursday, 5 September 2024 at 12-17 pm at the Georgenäum Calw. Registrations until July 24th to: bweidental@calw.de
