Encapsulated by individualised algorithms and safe spaces we can live in oblivion of unpleasant opinions and uncomfortable truths. The temporary Gemeinde Schmutzige Ecke confronts us with topics which are often preferred to be kept away from the public eye. How can we learn to cope with unexpected confrontations with dirty corners? The Kehrwoche is a ritual that the Nordschwarzwälder has an ambivalent relationship with, their open mindedness does not relate to obeying rigid rules, on the contrary they are strong willed ready to embrace dark histories and to nurture risky thoughts. The topical neighbourhood Schmutzige Ecke is centred around the question: What if the cleaning of gold and the cleaning of streets were seen as equally relevant and received the same appreciation?
